Sidelines®History

Sidelines, Inc., was launched in 1997. As the name suggests, the company began as a “side” business, selling organizational basket liners. The popularity of the liners soon led to the creation of other items and Sidelines soared from there, expanding to include a full array of organizational innovations not only for the closet but also for the pantry, laundry and kitchen.
Sidelines was first to offer many new products as well as finishes. At a time when the industry was offering only white as a finish, Sidelines introduced the chrome finish, a revolutionary idea which had been decades overdue. Before long, its collection included lines in brass, and two shades of rattan, with each item molded from steel that was sturdier and more durable than any other in the industry. From this core set of finishes Sidelines expanded yet again to offer an array of related products from tie and belt racks, which matched existing product lines, to laundry and pantry storage accessories.

The key to Sidelines’ success is threefold: a combination of excellent customer service, constant innovation of new and unique products, and a keen instinct for anticipating consumer needs. Over the years, Sidelines has been the first in the closet industry to offer such items as:

• A stylishly unique, signature-designed patented basket system (which replaced the old-fashioned grid system design), utilizing full-extension, ball-bearing slides
• In addition to the classic white signature design, basket finishes such as polished chrome, polished brass, two shades of rattan, and now Black Pearl, Oil Rubbed Bronze and Satin Nickel, all specifically designed to fit the custom closet industry’s laminate systems
• Matching tie racks, belt racks and valet rods in all metal finishes, which eliminated the need to match various wood finishes
• Full-extension spice and canned food racks, wine and shoe racks in several finishes, all of which coordinate with Sidelines’ signature basket systems
• Closetwear® basket wraps, in elegant black and brown faux leather, as well as four eye-popping “hot” colors
• The Closet Mirror, a full-image mirror that swivels ninety degrees on soft-closing, full-extension, ball-bearing slides and stores in less than 3” of space
• Pressing Perfection™, a patented fold-down ironing board just 5½” wide when stored against a panel or wall
• The Hardwear™ Collection, offering such innovative accessories such as the no-spin, no-scratch deluxe closet pole, the 3-way hook, and designer drawer and cabinet pulls, all with concealed hardware

Sidelines has continued its role as the leading industry innovator with its newest finishes, the alluring dark polished Black Pearl, the rich, burnished Oil Rubbed Bronze and the creamy, lustrous Satin Nickel.

After only ten years, Sidelines has grown from operating out of a small home office to now include its current headquarters in Scottsdale, Arizona, as well as satellite offices in Chicago, Illinois, Lincroft, New Jersey, and Santa Ana, California. Its client list includes such industry giants as the California Closet Company, the Closet Factory, Closet World, Closets by Design, Closet & Storage Concepts, manufacturers of closet components such as ClosetMaid, the Windquest companies, and more than 1000 independent custom closet dealers.

Today, Sidelines remains at the forefront of innovative designs for the organizational industry, constantly bringing to life new ideas and finishes, new inventions, and ever-easier installation.
